Why Gosport Shipyard?

Here he goes again... why a new blog and why "Gosport Shipyard"?

Gosport Shipyard (now called Norfolk Naval Shipyard or Norfolk Navy Yard) was established in 1767. It was destroyed during the American Revolution, was rebuilt, and in 1820 became home to the first operational drydock in the United States. It was again destroyed in 1862, was again rebuilt, and was given its current name. It has continued operation through the present day. Located on the Elizabeth River, it is just a short distance upriver from its mouth at Hampton Roads.

My interest in modeling naval subjects has recently resurfaced. Although the models have changed from wooden sailing ships to more modern steel-hulled ones, I figured that the time was ripe for a fresh, new look for presenting these subjects. Additionally, with all the recent conflicts surrounding social media, I have chosen to go back to a blog that I solely control.
